Overview

FarmDetour (https://www.farmdetour.com) helps you find local farm shops and producers along your route. We keep data collection to a minimum. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies at this time.

Information you provide

When you use the app, you may enter:

Start and destination addresses (work, home, or a place name)
Shopping categories or menu preferences
Your device location, only if you click “My location” and approve the browser prompt

This information is used to geocode your route, search for nearby producers, and build your shopping plan or Friday menu. We do not require an account.

Information processed automatically

When you use FarmDetour, our servers and hosting provider may process:

IP address and basic request logs (standard web hosting)
Browser type and device information sent with HTTP requests

These are used to operate and secure the service, not for targeted advertising.

Third-party services

We use the following services to run FarmDetour:

Google Places API — to find farm shops and producers. Address and location queries are sent to Google when you search. See Google's Privacy Policy.
OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — to geocode addresses and display map tiles. See OSMF Privacy Policy.
OSRM — to calculate driving routes between two points.
OpenAI (optional) — if an API key is configured, menu preferences and stop details may be sent to generate AI recipes. Without a key, a local template is used instead.
Vercel Analytics — privacy-friendly, cookieless page-view analytics so we can see how many people use the site. See Vercel Analytics & Privacy.
Vercel — hosts the website. See Vercel's Privacy Policy.

When you tap navigation links, you leave FarmDetour and go to Google Maps, Waze, or Apple Maps. Those services have their own privacy policies.

Analytics & cookies

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand traffic (page views, referrers, countries, devices). It is designed to be privacy-friendly and does not use cross-site tracking or advertising cookies. We do not use Google Analytics or marketing pixels.

We do not show a cookie consent banner because we do not use non-essential marketing cookies. If we add tools that require consent under EU law, we will update this policy.

Your browser or our hosting provider may use strictly necessary technical cookies or similar storage for security and performance.

Data retention

Search queries are processed in real time. We do not maintain a user profile or long-term history of your routes in the app. Standard server logs may be retained by our host for a limited period for security and debugging.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including the EU/EEA, UK, and California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. Because we do not operate user accounts, we typically do not store identifiable data beyond short-lived server logs.

Children

FarmDetour is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
